So you want to know all about me? Okay, if you say so... If you have read my first post, then you already know I wear many hats. I am Mommy to two beautiful little boys (my babies), Connor, 5, and Tasker Brett, who will be 1 year in June. I am lucky enough to teach at their weekday school, so I am able to peek-in on them anytime I like, such a comfort to a worry-wort like me. I am married to a wonderful man, Andrew, whose hobbies include, among other things, bringing home strange new animals and entrepreneurial ventures. He's the metal man, uniform guy, giver of first aid, car-fixin', trash-pickin', Craigslistin' guy of my dreams.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2008 with a degree in English and a minor in Classical Studies. A few months ago, I decided I was ready to pursue some more specific interests in writing and editing. And so, I began the Graduate program at UNCG. I have always been interested in publishing, and entered the master's program hoping to gain a better understanding of the ins and outs of the business. The shift from printed text to electronic text is fascinating; I am excited to be in the researcher's seat during a time of such transition.
My main literary interests lie in Southern literature, especially in the works which might be classified as part of the Southern Renaissance. I am interested in how Southern literature strives to deal with cultural and social relations. Naturally, I find both the culture and landscapes portrayed in Southern fiction inescapably charming. There is a magic about the South. My favorite works bewitch me with their portrayals of a beautiful South of Spanish moss, clear evening skies, and sweet-smelling Magnolias--all of which are simply irresistible.
I also enjoy Modern poetry. Wallace Stevens, W.B. Yeats, Robert Hass, and Theodore Roethke--the latter two probably more Contemporary, but favorites nonetheless.
